Joyce M. Collins received her AB from Emmanuel College, and her MA degree from
Middlebury College. She had done additional studies at Universidad Complutense de Madrid
and University of Oviedo in Spain, Boston College and Boston University, and the University
College and Yeats Institute at Ireland, among others institutions. She has been involved in the
teaching field with student teachers, especially in methodology and pedagogical techniques for
the teaching of Spanish. Her interests include Art-History of Spain, the literature of Spain and
Latin America. Professor Collins is particularly interested in the theme of the Encounter,
which was reflected in the Quinncentenial Program at Stonehill College, which she was
co-chair with Professor Judith Sughrue of the History Department. Professor Collins enjoys
playing the guitar, and is particularly interested in music from Spain, Latin America, and
Celtic music.
