Associate Professor (Spanish)

A native of Spain, José Carlos Pérez received his Ph.D. from Boston University. He is the author of the book La trayectoria novel’stica de Juan Goytisolo, of the prize winning study "Aspectos historicos de Zaragoza, de Benito Pérez Galdos", and of many book reviews. He has also written several articles on Goytisolo, such as "Juan Goytisolo: vision parcial de familia en Coto vedado, "Juan Goytisolo y el progreso", and "Juan Goytisolo, el marginado". In addition, he has received three public service awards for his involvement in community activities. He received the  "Louise F. Hegarty Award for Teaching Excellence" in 1995. Professor Pérez teaches courses on many subjects, but he is particularly interested in Peninsular and Latin American contemporary.
